I just finished reading this article about how Mayor Bloomberg’s foundation is spending money across the globe to influence transportation policy. His administration has had some really good ideas on how to improve transportation policy. He has been stymied by the state over and over again. The best example was his congestion pricing idea. As I read this, I thought to myself that Bloomberg may have greater influence on urban policy with his charity than he did when he was mayor. As mayor, he had to follow all these political rules, but his foundation can to what it pleases with its money.
